1. How long have you been working at Intellegens and what is your position/role?
I have been a part of the team for over a year. Intellegens is a company that likes to reach out to industry leaders and those that power innovation and I handle the early stages of that. My role as Sales Executive involves talking to those who are interested in understanding our machine learning capabilities and connecting them right to the people at Intellegens. For me this makes each day unique. I have the chance to speak to interesting characters at well-known industry leading companies.
2. What is your favourite part about working at Intellegens?
It has to be the team atmosphere. Working in a smaller company that is scaling up gives me the ability to know everyone on the team much more personally. Everyone is friendly, and a real expert in their field so it’s easy enough to have an interesting conversation.
3. What is your career/education background?
I graduated from the University of Leicester in 2019 after reading BA Ancient History and Archaeology. I am also currently reading for an MA in History at the University of Birmingham, part time. My time at university was absolutely invaluable. Unlike many of my undergraduate peers, I decided to continue with my academic study without delaying my entry into the workforce. So now I am studying and working at the same time, which means as you can imagine, time management is key! Before joining Intellegens in November 2020, I spent a year garnering Sales experience at an equally exciting start up in London. The training I received there is something I have definitely carried with me into my current role. Although my graduate workplace experience only spans two years, I feel completely at home with those who have spent a lifetime in industry.
4. What is something that you think makes Intellegens stand out from other companies?
Without a doubt the Intellegens team has industry-leading expertise. Spinning out from the University of Cambridge has meant that for once you can combine the on-paper benefits of machine learning with industry know-how. In-house we have machine learning experts, academics, those with extensive experience working alongside world leading companies, materials scientists, and physicists.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?
I enjoy keeping active at the gym, rowing at a local club, hiking and camping with friends. Ideally I’m found with a beer in the sun and Test Match Special on in the background. (For readers from non-cricketing countries, you can find an explanation of Test Match Special here!).
