1. What is your position at Intellegens and what does your role entail?
As Head of Sales my role is to ensure the commercial success of Intellegens, which is in turn built on the success of our customers – focusing on understanding their issues, demonstrating how we can apply our unique machine learning technology to meet their business challenges and goals to provide significant return on their investment.
2. What is your favourite part about working at Intellegens?
As an engineer, I find the problems customers bring to us fascinating, and the ability to solve them equally exciting – industry and R&D is truly at an inflexion point.
3. What is your career/education background?
I obtained an MEng in Manufacturing Engineering from Cambridge University, travelled the world for 14 months then started work with a spin out based on Mike Ashby’s materials selection work. After 21 enjoyable years of significant growth at Granta Design, it was time to move on and machine learning was an interesting new area to work in whilst also applying my materials and manufacturing knowledge.
4. What is something that you think makes Intellegens stand out from other companies?
Machine Learning is a rapidly growing domain, so when moving into the field you have to pick a company that has significant differentiators – with its ability to handle gaps in data, uncertainty quantification, and plenty of proven real world applications, Intellegens stood apart from other opportunities.
5. What does a perfect day look like to you?
Meeting with companies that have not yet applied machine learning in their new product development process, catching up with those already reaping the benefits of our Alchemite software and collaborating with colleagues to push the technology forward. All followed by a social catch up with colleagues at the end of the week!
