Webinar: The fast track to better formulations
Formulated products account for trillions of dollars of the global economy – everything from dairy products to aerospace coatings, pharmaceuticals to paint, plastics to perfume. R&D teams seek constant improvements – often, small percentage changes in cost or environmental impact can scale up to major impacts. These teams also need to respond quickly, for example, to changes in regulations, availability of raw materials, or new market requirements. In this webinar, we’ll demonstrate Alchemite™ – simple-to-use software that enables formulation teams to get vital guidance and insights in just a few button clicks. You’ll see how Alchemite™ can design experimental programs, realising substantial time savings, and recommend new formulations and process improvements that would otherwise be missed. Join us on the fast track to better formulations.
OPTIMADE advances materials collaboration
A new paper in the journal Digital Discovery summarises progress in the OPTIMADE project, which aims to promote collaboration and accelerate R&D in materials design by making it easier to access key sources of materials and crystallographic data. Intellegens CSO, Dr Gareth Conduit, is an organiser of the project and co-author on the paper.
New feature deepens data insights
Dimensionality reduction plots in the Alchemite™ software allow users to explore a complete dataset in a single visualisation. The plot projects the high-dimensional data (with many columns) onto an efficient two-dimensional surface, where each point represents a row in the dataset and the distance between points indicates the similarity between those samples. Clusters of points identify similar groups of samples, often pointing to relationships that would otherwise be missed. A new ‘Cluster Insights’ tab now provides additional tools enabling you to identify which columns are the most similar in each cluster, deepening your insights into the data.
Farnborough highlights ML for aerospace
Intellegens is attending the Farnborough International Airshow this month, in collaboration with our partners at Aerospace Xelerated. A workshop on Design of Experiments for aerospace R&D highlighted the role that machine learning plays in materials development for aerospace, including alloy design, composite manufacturing, and innovation in additive manufacturing.
Embedding ML in products and processes
On the blog we’ve been exploring some examples of machine learning being applied in product development beyond R&D – where the technology becomes embedded into products, processes, or associated services. Examples include enabling autonomous manufacturing processes, on-device control, and enabling customers to fine-tune their formulated products.
Recorded webinar – AI for digital manufacturing
This webinar shared experience from an innovative digital manufacturing project that is applying AI to enable self-optimisation of 3D printing processes. The results are faster, more cost-effective manufacturing, and reduced waste throughout the production lifecycle. Watch the recording to learn about state-of-the-art LCD-driven 3D printing from Photocentric. Intellegens shows how its Alchemite™ software is applied within the project to extract insights from process data, enabling material and process decisions to be optimised and, ultimately, supporting an autonomous manufacturing process. This project is supported by the Innovate UK smart factory initiative.
Some summer reading?
If you’re compiling your holiday reading list at the moment, why not include our white paper for a quick backgrounder on how machine learning is being applied in practice? Alternatively, save it for when you get back and have a great break!
