Webinar – FUCHS case study

Join this online event to learn from the experience of FUCHS, the world’s largest independent lubricant manufacturer, as they applied machine learning to accelerate their R&D. Dr Richard Bellizzi from FUCHS will explain how Alchemite™ machine learning has aided experimental design and the development of improved lubricant formulations. The Intellegens team will demonstrate the Alchemite™ software and there will be an opportunity for live Q&A. The webinar will be of interest to anyone engaged in chemicals or materials R&D or design of experiments.

White paper – Studying mixtures-of-mixtures

Mixtures-of-mixtures white paper

The components for formulations and materials are often themselves mixtures and it is the relative amounts of these underlying ingredients that drives performance. Yet many experimental design tools do not adequately account for this ‘mixture-of-mixtures’ scenario. A new white paper shows how Alchemite™ machine learning enables designers to specify the available feedstocks, then seamlessly optimize feedstock levels, all whilst retaining the scientific knowledge about the underlying ingredients. This enables users to design practical formulations with confidence that they will perform.

New development enables targeted ML

Some new science in the Alchemite™ software is helping researchers hit their targets even faster. Machine learning models are usually trained to perform well over the entire range of the training data. But now we’re offering the option to build knowledge of your targets into the model training. This enables increased accuracy in predictions where they matter most when designing a formulation or material. Check out the video in which our head of machine learning, Tom Whitehead, demonstrates this capability.

Webinar: Agentic AI

Agentic AI – the use of autonomous, tool-using AI systems with Large Language Models (LLMs) as decision engines – is emerging as a transformative force for R&D. Rather than isolated models, agentic systems coordinate and automate workflows across diverse software and data ecosystems. In this webinar, we’ll share early insights from industry discussions and from our development work in this area at Intellegens. These include examples of progress in applying agentic workflows to chemicals and materials R&D. We’ll also highlight the key challenges ahead – from system integration to data governance – and outline opportunities for organizations to get involved, shape the roadmap, and pilot next generations capabilities.

Blog – Sometimes, you know best

When we talk about machine learning, we quite often focus on its ability to find patterns in data that humans will miss. That’s definitely one of its attractions. But it isn’t the whole story. Because, very often, you know things about your data and domain that will provide a short-cut to the right answers. Really, we want to marry domain expertise and AI insights to get the best of both worlds. Our latest blog discusses this challenge.

Optimizing AM with integrated AI

3D printing has already revolutionized how we create complex components. The IntelliJeni project, a collaboration of Photocentric, Intellegens, and AMFG, has created a new, innovative approach that can make production faster, cheaper, and better for the planet. IntelliJeni couples the automated 3D printing of Photocentric’s JENI™ to the powerful Alchemite™ machine learning algorithm. This enables JENI™ to adjust its settings in real time to deliver the best results. You can find out more in a new white paper, which reports the results – reduced waste, less energy usage, and lower costs.

University of Cambridge features Intellegens

It was great to see Intellegens featured by the University of Cambridge in its recent roundup of 10 Cambridge AI spinouts. Intellegens was founded in 2017 to ensure that innovative machine learning technology developed in the University’s Cavendish Laboratory could be applied more widely in R&D.
