About us

Our vision is that machine learning will drive innovation and deliver value wherever data is used in R&D.

In delivering on this vision, we aim to be the leading provider of machine learning software for data analysis in chemical, materials, life science, and manufacturing R&D. Through partnering we enable customers to increase experimental efficiency and design better products and processes.

Our team and technology

Our advanced Alchemite™ machine learning technology originated in the work of Dr Gareth Conduit and collaborators at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge.  At Intellegens, we have built a unique Artificial Intelligence (AI) toolset that can train machine learning (ML) models from sparse or noisy data, where other ML approaches fail.  This capability is ideal for solving a range of key problems relating to experimental and process data in R&D. Our Cambridge-based science and development teams apply, extend, and improve these methods in close collaboration with customers and partners. In 2023, the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards recognised us as AI Company of the Year.

Applied machine learning

Our focus is on making it easy to apply advanced machine learning to accelerate innovation. The Alchemite™ software embeds the advanced Alchemite™ algorithm in a suite of apps focused on specific R&D tasks, enabling scientists and engineers to optimise products and processes while reducing the amount of experiment by 50-80%, getting to market faster and at lower cost. From the first use of our algorithms to design a novel alloy for aero engines, we’ve gone on to tackle applications in areas including chemicalsmaterials, life sciences, food and fast-moving consumer goods, and manufacturing processes.

Service and partnerships

The Alchemite™ software is supported by scientific services to help customers get up-to-speed fast and apply machine learning effectively, particularly in the context of larger (enterprise) implementations. Our technology can also be embedded as a computational engine in third party platforms. The Cerella™ platform from our partner Optibrium integrates Alchemite™ technology to accelerate small molecule drug discovery. Engineering simulation leader Ansys integrates Alchemite™ tools within their Granta MI™ additive manufacturing data management solution.
