Intellegens will be exhibiting at the Advanced Materials Show in Birmingham on June 28-29. Our Dr Tom Whitehead is also presenting on machine learning for materials R&D in the conference sessions.
Details of Tom’s talk are provided below.
Visit our exhibition booth to find out how we’re helping scientists to apply machine learning to design new materials and processes and to accelerate their experimental programs.
Presentation details
Speaker: Dr Tom Whitehead, Head of Machine Learning at Intellegens
Title: How machine learning is meeting energy, sustainability, and innovation challenges in materials R&D
Talk timing: 29 June, Session 1
Session title: How Can Materials Users Harness Digital Technology to Reduce Costs and Expedite Materials Innovation?
Abstract:
Three of the key strategic challenges facing the materials and chemical process industries are: responding to volatility in energy costs and supply chains; meeting urgent net zero targets; and enabling faster, more responsive innovation. In this talk, we’ll explore (with case studies) how machine learning is being applied to meet these challenges – by optimising yields and finding efficiencies from key processes, providing insights that lead to new and improved grades of materials, and extracting value from legacy data to develop and then share new corporate knowledge about materials.
Session objectives:
- Understand how key industry trends lead to complex optimisation challenges for R&D teams
- Learn how machine learning is being applied to solve these problems
