With Alchemite™ Suite, you select the right combination of apps to meet the needs of your team. Your license will enable you to run the specified apps for the specified number of users – and you can ‘mix-and-match’ apps. For example, you might want two licenses for Alchemite™ Viewer so that managers can keep track of your project, ten licenses for Alchemite™ Designer to enable your experimentalists to design their experiments, and two Alchemite™ Innovators so that your data scientists can build and refine ML models. This means the cost will vary, depending on the number of users you wish to support and the tasks on which they are focused. It’s easy to add further apps at any time, so your implementation can grow with your organization’s needs. Whether you’re a small R&D team of 3–5 scientists or a multinational with 100+ researchers, the Alchemite™ Suite can be tailored to fit your structure and goals.

Alchemite™ is a proprietary machine learning (ML) method, originally developed at the University of Cambridge which, since 2017, has been implemented into commercial software and further developed at Intellegens. The method can be accessed and applied through the easy-to-use web-based apps of the Alchemite™ Suite or via its API. For more background on the methodology and application of Alchemite™, see the White Papers and Publications sections of this website. Key scientific features of Alchemite™ include:

See the White Papers and peer-reviewed Publications sections of this website for more background on the method and its validation across a range of applications.
With ML methods, there is often the concern that the system is a ‘black box’, because the underlying model cannot be inspected in the same way that it is possible to analyze an equation. The answer to this challenge is to couple the method with an excellent set of ‘explainable AI’ tools that enable the user to interrogate and understand the relationships captured in their ML model. Alchemite™ Suite offers a range of graphical analysis tools – for example, to explore the model’s understanding of how particular inputs drive the outputs in the system being studied.
Alchemite™ has been successfully applied across a wide range of industries, demonstrating its versatility. See the Customers section of this website and the Case Studies library for examples.
Sectors where Alchemite™ has been applied include:
Alchemite™ is designed to work with experimental data and to handle complex, non-linear relationships which are common in many of these industries. It is idea for formulation problems (in chemicals, materials, and formulated products) and experimental design.
We take data security seriously and are proud to be ISO 27001 certified, the globally recognized standard for information security management. This certification demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding your data through robust security controls, regular risk assessments, and compliance with best practices. With ISO 27001, you can trust that your sensitive information is managed with the highest level of security and care.
Begin by organizing your data into a simply formatted csv or excel files, ensuring each row represents a unique data entry and each column corresponds to a specific variable or feature. Include all relevant data points, even if some values are missing, as Alchemite™ is designed to handle incomplete datasets effectively. Once your data is organized, save the table in CSV format, which is compatible with Alchemite™ for efficient data analysis and model creation. Or you can use the Alchemite™ Excel Add-in to train and apply models directly within Excel.
Our API is designed for seamless integration with multiple systems, offering flexibility and ease of use for developers. With comprehensive documentation, clear endpoints, and support for standard protocols, it enables quick and efficient connectivity between our platform and your existing systems. Whether you’re working with CRMs, ERPs, or custom applications, our API ensures smooth data exchange, reducing complexity and streamlining workflows.
The Alchemite™ Suite is accessed as a series of web apps, so internet access is required
Yes, you can have confidence in our systems and processes as you apply Alchemite™ to extract more value from your critical data. Intellegens is ISO 27001 certified.
Alchemite™ Suite apps are web browser based tools and all expensive computation will be done on the cloud, so there’s no requirement on your device/laptop. In order to get the best experience we recommend keeping your browser version up to date.
For Alchemite™ API users or organizations wishing to host Alchemite™ on dedicated cloud clusters (see below), additional software and hardware requirements will apply. Full user documentation is available or contact us for more information.
Shared hosting: this hosting option is included in the standard user licence fees and is the option used by most customer organizations. Users log in to a secure, shared cluster, hosted by Intellegens. This is a fast and easy option when get started – we create an account for each of your users and you can be up-and-running immediately.
Dedicated cloud hosting: Alchemite™ can be deployed on a private cluster managed by Intellegens or by your IT team in their own cloud environment. Additional fees apply.
The Alchemite™ platform is a containerised system, installed within a Kubernetes cluster. Kubernetes is a container orchestration system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containers. This approach allows for compute resources to be automatically scaled up and down as required. High computational resources are needed to train models and when a large number of models or users are to be served.
Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google provide hosted Kubernetes environments, meaning Alchemite™ can be easily deployed across any cloud provider.
The shared cluster is purely on Google Cloud Platform.
The private managed cluster is currently available on all of these three cloud providers.
The self-hosted cluster is available on all of these three cloud providers, plus any other Kubernetes enabled services, from your own hardware to smaller services such as OVH or linode.
Once you have purchased your Alchemite™ license, you can dive straight in and start trying it out on your data via the easy-to-use web apps, drawing on the comprehensive supporting documentation when needed.
But, for larger enterprise projects, you may want a more structured process and support to ensure your team adopts and applies Alchemite™ as effectively as possible. Intellegens will assign an Alchemite™ Success Team to work with you on delivering your project.
In most cases, our project delivery process starts with a kick-off meeting, in which we discuss and confirm with you the project plans, including scope, objectives, and timelines. Sometimes, we begin a pilot project. Once the initial project approach has been agreed, all users from your organization will get access to the Alchemite™ apps that fit their needs.
The first step is usually to collate, organize and prepare data in the required formats. We will advise on this process and support you through the subsequent process of training ML models and the analysis and application of these models. Analysis can be undertaken either by Intellegens scientists or by your own team, as agreed in the project plan. In either case, the Alchemite™ Success team will meet you on a regular basis to coach all software users on how to use the platform step-by-step, review the insights found by Alchemite™ on your project, and discuss the best approach to solve problems that arise.
In some cases, your journey with Intellegens starts with a pilot project (also called a “Proof of Concept”, or POC project). These projects are focused on a short-term, measurable goal and often supported by a dedicated Intellegens team (usually an account manager, at least one ML scientist, and a project delivery manager). During the project lifecycle, the Alchemite™ Success team will work with you to deploy Alchemite™ software to meet agreed objectives and to demonstrate the feasibility of Alchemite™ in your use case. As part of the engagement, we will ensure that your project leads learn the skills needed to use Alchemite™ and thus feel confident in leading projects internally in the future.
Following a successful pilot project, you’ll be in a position to decide whether to extend the existing project or begin a project with a new focus. In either case, you’ll be provided continuous support and guidance from the Alchemite™ Success team.
Most projects are software projects, in which the aim is to develop your independent use of Alchemite™ as quickly as possible. Your role will gradually transition from an AI participant to an AI player, with most of the scope of work and deliverables to be undertaken by your internal project team, although (particularly for initial projects) some service and support is usually provided by the Alchemite™ Success Team. This includes providing you with training sessions where you can learn and develop the essential skills and competencies to use Alchemite™.
Before you agree to a project or licence the software, your key contact will be your Intellegens sales representative. During this process you’ll be gradually introduced to the Alchemite™ Success Team, consisting of your account manager, ML scientists, and a project delivery manager. When a project is kicked off, the project delivery manager will become a key contact alongside your account manager.
