Rachael has brought her experience of product management in the biotech software sector to Intellegens, helping us to collaborate more effectively to develop the right product plans and to deliver on these plans with great software.
1. What is your role at Intellegens?
I am the Product Manager at Intellegens. It’s my job to make sure our products are the very best they can be! I look for opportunities within the feedback we receive from users and our other market research to drive development of our products in a way that will increase value for our customers. I work closely with the Engineering team, giving them guidance on what features to work on, and on prioritisation. I also work with our Science, UX/UI, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment on the product roadmap and feature requirements.
2. What is your favourite thing about working at Intellegens?
I love working for a company where everyone knows everyone because it makes collaboration between functions and with customers really easy, and that’s a huge part of my job.
3. What is your career background?
I started my career as a software test engineer for a biotech company. In 2019, I gained my ISTQB Foundation Level test qualification and was test lead on multiple projects delivering clinical software solutions. During that time, I worked closely with a number of product managers and was always interested in the product vision and lifecycle, as well as seeing software products through the eyes of the end user. In 2021, an opportunity to join the product management team at the same company opened up and I went for it. I spent 3 years managing a portfolio of on-market clinical software products as well as learning from the team of product managers around me before joining Intellegens at the end of 2023.
4. What is something that you think makes Intellegens stand out from other companies?
In my opinion, it’s the underlying machine learning technology and its origins at the University of Cambridge that sets us apart. The ability for this technology to be applied to such a range of industries is also really exciting to see and I love how the company has grown to support that.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?
Whenever I’m given the chance, I love to travel and explore new places both in the UK and further afield. I love a city break, taking in the sights, and eating all the food!
