Case study – Accelerating biomaterials innovation at Modern Synthesis

Modern Synthesis biomaterials

Materials innovator Modern Synthesis shared its experience of adopting Alchemite™ machine learning at last month’s Intellegens webinar. Time is critical, as the Modern Synthesis team race to take their novel biomaterial technology from pilot to full-scale production at manufacturing clients within a year. After just over four months working with Alchemite, Modern Synthesis already reported a 30% increase in development speed. As well as the insights and predictive capabilities offered by machine learning, a smart approach to adoption, with active support from Intellegens, has been key to the journey so far.

New Alchemite feature – interactive data editing

Data editing feature video

The latest new Alchemite feature enables a slick workflow as users build confidence in their data and machine learning model. Data editing enables reviewing and correcting of data with immediate interactive feedback and re-training of a new model, all without leaving the Alchemite Suite user interface. You can watch a video for a short demonstration.

Patsnap connection brings real-time IP intelligence into AI-driven formulation design

Intellegens is partnering with Patsnap to connect a global patent dataset with Alchemite Suite. R&D teams in chemicals, materials, and FMCG will gain access to patent insight earlier in the development process, at the point of experimental design rather than after testing is complete. Formulation candidates can be validated against a database of more than 170 million patent records for novelty and freedom-to-operate. Where a conflict exists, the system can surface alternative ingredients or process parameters that achieve performance targets while avoiding protected IP.

MCP Server delivers next phase in Alchemite AI vision

New Alchemite™ MCP feature delivers next phase in AI vision

The latest development in the Alchemite software supports ever-increasing expectations for AI as a driver of scientific productivity. Alchemite machine learning already finds the key relationships hidden in your data and puts those to work to find new formulations, materials, and chemicals. But, with the advent of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI, we now expect not just that such powerful research tools will work, but that we can ‘chat’ with them, and that AI will remove the effort of integrating them into research workflows. This is the vision that the new Alchemite MCP Server helps to deliver.

Blog – Five ways a little ML education can go a long way

The most common factor determining machine learning success or failure isn’t the accuracy of models or the quality of data – it’s how effectively the technology is adopted and applied in teams. A key element can be the right training and education. In this month’s blog, we discuss how to get the balance right – upskilling for success without requiring your team to become data science or statistics experts.

Webinar – Reformulate smarter: Using AI to do more with less

The food and beverage industry is under constant pressure to renovate existing products, reducing cost, removing ingredients, and meeting evolving consumer and regulatory demands – all without compromising on taste, texture, or shelf life. In this session, we’ll show you how Alchemite transforms your historical formulation data into a powerful guide for what to make next. Live, we’ll use a machine learning model trained on previous formulation data and use it to predict high-performing new formulations that use fewer ingredients – cutting your lab workload and accelerating the path from reformulation brief to validated product.
